Santiagueno can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Fantasmas (2-4) 86-77 on Tuesday. Santiagueno dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Fantasmas' 44. Santiagueno looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Santiagueno made 7 blocks. Puerto Rican guard Angel Oquendo (183, college: NHTI) fired 29 points and 4 assists for the winners. American Xavier Eaglin (201-1997, college: PVAMU) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. American Nick Moore (198-1991, college: Alliance) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds for lost side. Santiagueno maintains tenth place with 1-5 record. Fantasmas at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Santiagueno are looking forward to face league's second-placed Santa Ana at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fantasmas will play against Santa Tecla (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Worth to mention a great performance of American center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 21 rebounds. Alejandro Barahona contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. San Salvador's coach William Avalos allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Sean Scott (190-1997, college: Pfeiffer) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds for A.Lobos. Santa Ana will meet bottom-ranked Santiagueno (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brujos will play against Salvadorenos and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 7 Brujos were defeated by Cojute in Cojutepeque 71-61. Santa Tecla beat A.Lobos at home 80-76.

Santa Ana - Brujos 99-79

This time Cojute used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Izalco 71-61 on Wednesday night. Cojute forced 20 Brujos turnovers. It was a great evening for Dominican forward Frankyn Batista (198-1999, college: Pace) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds. American center Troidell Carter (206-1991, college: Slippery Rock) helped adding 13 points and 13 rebounds. Batista is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side center Teodoro Romero (202-1985) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 19 rebounds and Alfonso Tobar (-2007) scored 15 points. Brujos' coach Anibal Mendez rotated fourteen players in this game, but that didn't help. Cojute maintains sixth place with 3-4 record. Loser Brujos keep the eighth position with five games lost. Cojute will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Brujos will play against Salvadorenos (#4) and hope to secure a win.
